Casks for a Cause- HEF Hops for Teachers

October 18 @ 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm

October’s Casks for a Cause event will be benefiting the Harrisonburg Education Foundation, whose mission is to fund opportunities, fulfill dreams, and celebrate excellence in the Harrisonburg City Public Schools.

Established in 1994, HEF has been an advocate for the students and teachers of HCPS. Initially setting out to enrich the programming available in the local public school system, HEF today furthers its mission by assisting teachers through programming support, offering high schoolers college scholarships, and recognizing the achievements of students of all ages in Harrisonburg.

The Innovative Educator Grants help teachers implement exciting, new and sometimes unconventional programs that bolster learning in the key educational areas of special education, finance, technology and early childhood. From coding robots to learning survival skills for adulthood, the students who have benefited from a HEF grant will carry these experiences with them for a lifetime.

Flavor Savor BBQ will be set up for dinner, so come hungry! They will be serving up their delicious pork BBQ, beef brisket, Swamp Water Chicken, and Monster Mac and Cheese.

Plan to spend the evening outside in the beautiful fall weather. We will have live music from singer/songwriter Dallas Leonard on our patio, and our By the Fire Fridays campfire and FREE s’mores station from 6-9 pm.

Originally from the Indianapolis area of the Midwest, Dallas has established himself as an exceptional songwriter and performer based currently in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States. “Age of Reason,” his first album/CD of all original compositions, explores the real-life experiences that have shaped his music throughout his career.

As HEF looks towards the future of our foundation, they want to hear from you! Share your voice as a teacher, parent, and community member at their “chalkboard of ideas” during the event.

Come out to help this wonderful cause by buying a pint from the ‘Yet to Be Named’ cask of our Blonde Betty on coffee, and by participating in the silent auction for the framed event poster. All
of the proceeds from the cask and silent auction will benefit the 2020 Innovative Educator Grants. And stay tuned for more fun surprises!
